A Crash Course On VG Music Ripping
YOU STINK! Yeah, you right there Mr.I USE MICS! In just a few minutes you could be making awesome gamerips!
First let us take a look at the hardware. Let us cover consoles first. All modern consoles use standard RCA cables for their main audio output. These are common. What you are gonna want next, is a RCA to 1/8″ (3.5mm) Stereo mini phone plug adapter. just plug it in. Finally, the last main piece of hardware, the computer. Connect the cable though the adapter to the computer’s “Line-In” jack. Be SURE to lower to gain volume from said volume to the minimum, otherwise, static and whine will prevail.
Now Let us take a look at the software, you can use an WAV/AIFF recording app, but I personally use Quicktime pro. Launch your app, record and save as an uncompressed aiff/wav. Don’t worry, the file is supposed to be huge. The next step is to elect what you want to work with, the bulk of your song. Again I use Quicktime pro but you can use any app. The last part is the tweaking and conversion. For a free and EASY way, go download a free copy Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/. next simply open the file in this app and by selecting segments you can remove noise, do fade outs, speed things up, and even make the whole thing louder if necessary. Take your time to fel comfortable with this app and do NOT rush. Great things happen when you take your time. After you are done, export the file to MP3 R OGG, your choice, and fill in the tags. You are now done!
It’s not hard to make rips at all! Just be dedicated!
